I spent way too much money on books last week and I think snakes are wonderful.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>How did you come up with the idea for your story?<\/strong><\/p><p>The idea for my story comes from the horror inherent in being lost in the minutia of a strange world.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Would you want Ezra\u2019s ability?<\/strong><\/p><p>Having the ability to create my life exactly how I want it is undeniably appealing, but I think that I would fall into the same trap that Ezra does; I would leave \u2018good enough\u2019 behind in search of \u2018perfect\u2019.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>What do you think of the idea of multiple worlds?<\/strong><\/p><p>It&#8217;s a fascinating idea to consider, one that&#8217;s maybe made more interesting because there\u2019s so little known or proven about it. There just aren\u2019t enough facts yet to form a complete picture, which makes it fun to write about, because I can fill in the gaps myself.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>The red threads of probability bring to mind the red thread of fate in eastern myths. Was it something you referenced?<\/strong><\/p><p>Definitely. Something I considered when writing was the seeming antithesis of fate and multiple worlds. Two people may be fated for each other, but if there\u2019s a world for every outcome, then there are equally many universes where they never met. Ezra having control of probabilities is, to me, essentially the same as having control of fate.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>What was your writing process like?<\/strong><\/p><p>I started with the image of a shrimp exploding into pink glitter and worked from there.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>What is your favourite science-inspired book?<\/strong><\/p><p><em>Project Hail Mary<\/em>\u00a0by Andy Weir.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Are you working on other writing projects?<\/strong><\/p><p>I\u2019m currently working on a horror novel that explores dysfunctional family dynamics through an ancestral curse.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>What does being a Quantum Shorts finalist mean to you?<\/strong><\/p><p>It&#8217;s a great honour and I&#8217;m happy to have been chosen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Backstory: A World in Threads A Q&amp;A with\u00a0Acadia Reynolds, Quantum Shorts finalist Read the story:\u00a0A World in Threads Can you give a short introduction of yourself?
