A car parked across a bank\u2019s street with two suspicious-looking men inside. Carl, the one in the driver\u2019s seat, moved his head into the direction of the building and said to the other guy

\u201cThis is the place.\u201d
\u00a0
Bob, in the passenger seat, begun to turn his head towards the building.
\u00a0
\u201cDon\u2019t look!\u201d shouted Carl, \u201cWe don\u2019t want to raise any suspicion.\u201d
\u00a0
Bob immediately looked away, shouting \u201cSorry!\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cDid you bring the lozenges?\u201d asked Carl.
\u00a0
\u201cThey\u2019re in one of the bags in the back seat.\u201d replied Bob, \u201cAre you sure about the whole thing?\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cOf course I am.\u201d answered Carl, \u201cThis is going to be like taking candy from a baby. Now we just wait for the bank to close.\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cMaybe you can explain me the plan again. I don\u2019t think I fully get it\u2026\u201d requested Bob, cautiously.
\u00a0
\u201cWhat\u2019s so hard to understand?\u201d asked Carl, exasperated, \u201cUgh\u2026 Fine, listen carefully: Remember the lozenges I just mentioned? They are not regular sweets, they are \u2018quantumness\u2019 tablets. You take one and within seconds you become a quantum object.\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cWh-What does that mean?\u201d asked Bob with the look on his face of a student trying to understand what is being said in class after missing the previous five.
\u00a0
\u201cMeans that after taking one we\u2019ll be able to \u2018quantum tunnel\u2019 through the bank\u2019s walls.\u201d replied Carl.
\u00a0
\u201cLike ghosts?\u201d asked Bob, bemused.
\u00a0
\u201cNo, not like gh- Yes, like ghosts\u2026\u201d said Carl, rolling his eyes.
\u00a0
\u201cBut how are we going to grab the money if we become ghosts?\u201d asked Bob, still confused.
\u00a0
\u201cWe are not going to become ghosts!\u201d angrily replied Carl.
\u00a0
\u201cBut you just said\u2026\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cForget what I said! Just think of it like crossing through a finish line ribbon. We are going to rush towards the wall and instead of crashing we are going to suddenly appear on the other side.\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cBut how?\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cDoesn\u2019t matter. Just trust me on this, I have read a book about it.\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cSo, then we take the money and \u2018tunnel\u2019 back outside?\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cIs not that simple.\u201d said Carl, shaking his head. \u201cThe cash\u2019s mass will make tunnelling harder; that\u2019s why this hasn\u2019t been attempted before. There\u2019s another thing we need to do when we charge towards the bank\u2019s wall.\u201d

\u201cWhat\u2019s that?\u201d asked Bob, already expecting an incomprehensible answer.
\u00a0
\u201cRun to the car at the same time.\u201d replied Carl with a smirk.
\u00a0
Bob has never been so confused in all his life. Noticing this, Carl resumed the explanation.
\u00a0
\u201cIt\u2019s called a quantum superp-\u201d Carl stopped briefly, \u201cLook, the lozenges will also allow us to be in two places at the same time, okay? So, we can enter the bank and go back to the car simultaneously. We grab all the money that we can, then wait for the effect of the lozenges to run off. When that happens, we are going to appear back in the car with all the cash that we took.\u201d

Bob didn\u2019t say anything.
\u00a0
\u201cIt\u2019s called \u2018quantum teleportation\u2019\u2026\u201d Carl continued, \u201cjust don\u2019t worry about it. We then hide the notes in the trunk and take another lozenge. Rinse and repeat. Is it clear?\u201d

Not a single sound came out from Bob, he just nodded with his head, eyes wide open. His brain was working at a thousand miles per hour, but if there was a screen a top of his head, it would have only displayed \u201cDoes not compute\u201d.
\u00a0
Carl nudged Bob\u2019s with the elbow to wake him up from his stupor.
\u00a0
\u201cLook, they started to close up.\u201d noted Carl, \u201cSome of the employees are already leaving. We just need to wait for a little longer\u201d.
\u00a0
\u201cShould I go and pay for the parking?\u201d asked Bob.
\u00a0
\u201cNo, we shouldn\u2019t stay in front the building. Let\u2019s go to the space in the parallel street. Also, parking there is free after six\u2026\u201d
\u00a0
The two men departed and drove in circles around the bank until they were sure it was after six. They parked the car on the street behind the bank and stepped out carrying several bags.
\u00a0
They entered the back alley leading to the bank, with Carl several steps ahead.
\u00a0
Carl placed his ear against one of the walls and knocked twice. \u201cHere it is,\u201d he said while still listening, \u201cthe vault should be behind this wall.\u201d
\u00a0
He turned to Bob and said \u201cOkay, let\u2019s do it. Give me one of the lozenges.\u201d
\u00a0
Bob searched inside one of the bags he was holding. He took out two similar packages, showed them to Carl.
\u00a0
\u201cWhich flavour do you want? \u2018Schr\u00f6dinger\u2019s Spearmint\u2019 or \u2018Nonlocal Liquorice\u2019?\u201d asked Bob.
\u00a0
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter\u2026 Spearmint.\u201d
\u00a0
Bob threw the corresponding packet. Carl caught it with one hand, opened it and dropped a single lozenge into his palm. He closed his eyes and immediately put the tablet in his mouth.
\u00a0
\u201cNot too bad\u2026\u201d said Carl, swirling the lozenge around with his tongue. \u201cNow it\u2019s your turn.\u201d
\u00a0
Bob opened the other packet and took one of the lozenges. He was about to put it in his mouth when he suddenly stopped
\u00a0
\u201cDid you know I used to work for an accounting firm?\u201d said Bob, staring at the lozenge, \u201cThings used to be so simple back then\u2026\u201d
\u00a0
\u201cStop whining and take the damn thing.\u201d
\u00a0
Bob sighed and placed the lozenge in his mouth.
\u00a0
\u201cThese are quite nice; you should try one.\u201d said Bob.
\u00a0
\u201cPass\u2026\u201d replied Carl, without hesitation.
\u00a0
They waited until the tablets came to full effect; 256 seconds, according to the back of the package. They stepped away from the wall and prepared themselves for running.
\u00a0
\u201cRemember to run as fast as possible; we need all kinetic energy that we can get.\u201d said Carl in a dead-serious tone.
\u00a0
\u201cIf you say so\u2026\u201d replied Bob in a dead-scared tone.
\u00a0
\u201cAt the count of three. Ready? One\u2026 Two\u2026 Three! Go!\u201d.
\u00a0
Both men sprinted as fast as they could.
\u00a0
A couple of hours later, the paramedics arrived and took both men to the hospital. In their report, the paramedics wrote \u201cDiagnosis: Severe concussion. Causes: Poor understanding of quantum physics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
