The shortlist is finally ready for your input.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shortlisting judges have picked 10 films out of a total of 176 submissions \u2013 our thanks to all the entrants. The shortlist spans a range of styles and genres, from fascinating sci-fi visions to absurdist takes on the multiverse. There are quantum detectives, love stories and science-inspired comedy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entries came from all over the world, with finalists from Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. We would like to offer our congratulations to all the shortlisted filmmakers, who have already bagged a $250 prize and a one-year digital subscription to Scientific American \u2013 plus the opportunity for audiences across the globe to see their films in dedicated screenings. Now wish them luck as the judging panel pick our ultimate winners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also invite you to take part and pick your favourite film for the People\u2019s Choice Prize. The films are no longer than five minutes, so it won\u2019t take you long to find the one that deserves your vote! Watch the films and then make your choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the 10 shortlisted films, in alphabetical order:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/10-57\">10-57<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; In this short by Daniel Baig, a police officer responds to an emergency call only to find himself caught in a quantum dilemma.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/atoms-searching-immateriality\">Atoms searching for immateriality<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Anne-Marie Bouchard\u2019s film shines a spotlight on photoluminescent nanoparticles, displaying their starlike nature.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/gluon-free\">Gluon Free<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Chris Willoughby directed, wrote and produced this absurdist exploration of the multiverse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/heads-or-tails\">Heads or Tails<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; A noir-ish take on a Schr\u00f6dinger\u2019s cat situation, by director Lin Tianyun and screenwriter Chen Peishan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/if-world-spinned-backwards\">If the World Spinned Backwards<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Writers Leonardo Martinelli and Arthur Valverde imagine how quantum theory\u2019s independence of time would change the human experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/knock-knock\">Knock Knock<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Grace Lambert and Noemi Gunea share the writing, producing, acting and directing credits on this comedic take on the threat of black holes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/legio-viii-quantae\">LEGIO VIII QUANTAE. &#8220;The quantum resurgence after the fall of Silicon Valley&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; A sci-fi vision of quantum technology\u2019s legacy, directed by Andrea Rodriguez Blanco.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/entry\/qed\">QED<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; A Nobel prize-winning theory inspired Chetan V.
